Q: What will the vendors do during DSL installation?

A: The Telephone Company is responsible for everything having to do with the line for the install. Each telephone line is made up of two copper bundles or "pairs". The phone technician will need to go into your telephone box, take one of the existing copper pairs from your telephone line and will create a line for DSL service. The other copper pair continues as your existing telephone line. In some rare cases, the telephone company will not be able to use that other pair, therefore, they must take another from somewhere else in your telephone box, and run it up to your location like a phone line. This is rare, but it can happen. You may or may not be required to be present for the line install. If your telephone box is located in an area available to the open public (i.e. not in the location or behind a fence), you may not be required to be present. If it is in an area that is not accessible to the public, you will be required to be there.
